DIESEL-FUSE BLOCK/FUSE IDENTIFICATION 20AMP FUEL PUMP

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985 Celebrity with 4.3L V6 Diesel Engine

The fuel pump fuse identification graphics on the fuse block of a 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity indicates that a 10 amp fuse is required. A 10 amp fuse would be located in this position if the vehicle is equipped with either the 2.5L/EFI or 2.8L/MFI gasoline engine.

If the vehicle is equipped with the 4.3L Diesel engine, a 20 amp fuse is installed in the fuel pump location while the graphics still read 10 amp on the fuse block. The owners manual also indicates a 10 amp fuel pump fuse identification.

This could cause some confusion for the technician or customer should the need arise to replace the fuel pump fuse on a vehicle equipped with a diesel engine. A 20 amp fuse is correct for this application.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
