The I.P. storage compartment door on some 1985-86 Chevrolet 'A' cars have been reported as warped, usually on the left side, preventing a flush fit. This condition may be caused by misadjustment at assembly.
To correct this condition, the following procedure can be used.
1. Remove door assembly from retainer (see Fig. 1).
2. Loosen screws 'A' & 'B'.
3. Push retainer down at 'A' and tighten screw 'A'.
4. Tighten screws 'B'.
5. Reinstall door and check fit. If additional correction is required, remove door assembly and loosen screw 'C'.
6. Lift retainer assembly up and tighten screw 'C'.
7. Reinstall door assembly.
8. If additional correction is still needed, elongate hole at screw 'A' to provide more adjustment.
Use applicable labour time and operation number.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
