POWER STEERING PULLEY MAY CUT WIRE HARNESS (SERVICE PROC.)

SUBJECT: POWER STEERING PULLEY MAY CUT WIRE HARNESS

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989 BUICK AND OLDS A-CAR W/3300 LG7

Condition:

--------- The power steering pulley may contact the engine wiring harness during engine roll on the 1989 A car with 3300 (LG7) engine. The illustration shows the area of contact. The condition may be reported as loss of blower motor, or a driveability condition if the fusible link is not carrying current.

Cause:

----- Wire harness is not properly secured to the dash, particularly in the area of the wiring to the blower motor. This condition was corrected in production about October 31, 1988.

Correction:

---------- 1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. If necessary, repair any rubbing damage done to the wire harness. Also replace fusible link if required.

3. Secure the wire harness to the dash to prevent contact, using retaining straps as needed. See Figure 1.

4. Reconnect negative battery.
