SLIPPAGE 1-2 UPSHIFT RESULTING FROM PUMP SEAL RINGS

SOME 1980-81 CHEVETTES MAY EXPERIENCE SLIPPAGE ON THE 1-2 UP SHIFT WHICH FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL. THIS CONDITION COULD BE CAUSED BY A WORN SECOND GEAR CLUTCH OIL SEAL RING. SINCE THE WEAR PATTERN IS DIFFICULT TO SEE ON THE PUMP, THE RING SHOULD BE REMOVED FOR INSPECTION AND REPLACED IF NECESSARY. ILLUSTRATION
