Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 220095  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the left front or the right front wheel housing panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the air compressor for the air brakes (if equipped, left side only). Refer to Air Compressor Replacement in Air Compressor.
  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly with the air intake duct (right side). Refer to Air Intake System Replacement in Engine Controls-6.0L, 7.0L.
  5. Remove the PCV valve from the valve rocker arm cover.
  6. Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  7. Remove the engine wiring harness and the governor module (left side). Refer to Engine Speed Governor Module Replacement in Engine Controls-6.0L, 7.0L.
  8. Remove the oil level indicator and tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  9. Remove the bolt from the valve rocker arm cover.
  10. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.
  11. Clean and inspect the sealing surface of the cylinder head.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 220095  Size: SH
  1. Install the valve rocker arm cover with a new gasket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts and the supports.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m (70 lb in).

  5. Install the spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  6. Install the PCV valve from the valve rocker arm cover.
  7. Install the oil level indicator and tube. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  8. Install the engine wiring harness and the governor module (left side). Refer to Engine Speed Governor Module Replacement in Engine Controls-6.0L, 7.0L.
  9. Install the air compressor for the air brakes (if equipped, left side only). Refer to Air Compressor Replacement in Air Compressor.
  10. Install the air cleaner assembly with the air intake duct. Refer to Air Intake System Replacement in Engine Controls-6.0L, 7.0L.
  11. Install the left front or the right front wheel housing panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  12. Connect the battery negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
