Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 441296  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the left or right front wheel housing panels. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the radiator shrouds from the radiator . Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the drive belts from the vehicle. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  5. Remove the PTO adapter (if equipped). Refer to the Manufacturer's Service Manual.
  6. Remove the crankshaft balancer from the crankshaft. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
  7. Remove the crankshaft front cover oil seal from the engine front cover.
  8. Important: Use care not to distort the timing gear cover.

  9. Remove the crankshaft key, if necessary, by prying the key out with a large screwdriver.

Installation Procedure

J 22102 Front Cover Seal Installer

  1. Install the crankshaft key if the key was removed.
  2. Coat the crankshaft front oil seal with clean engine oil.
  3. Important: Make sure that the open end of the seal faces toward the inside of the engine.

  4. Install the crankshaft front oil seal with the J 22102 .
  5. Install the crankshaft balancer on the crankshaft. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
  6. Install the PTO adapter (if equipped). Refer to the Manufacturer's Service Manual.
  7. Install the drive belts in the vehicle. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  8. Install the radiator shroud on the radiator. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  9. Install the left or right front wheel housing panels. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  10. Connect the battery negative cable to the battery terminal. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
