Removal Procedure
- Remove the air cleaner.
- Disconnect the EGR valve vacuum tube at the valve.
- Remove the bolts or the nuts (4).
- Remove the EGR valve (1) and the gasket (2) from the manifold.
Discard the gasket.
Cleaning and Inspection Procedure
Important: Do not wash the EGR valve in solvents or a degreaser -- permanent
damage to the valve diaphragm may result. Do not sand blast the valve because
this can affect the operation of the valve.
- If EGR manifold passage indicates an excessive build-up of deposits,
clean the passage. Remove all loose particles in order to prevent them from
clogging the EGR valve or from being ingested into the engine.
- With a wire wheel, buff the exhaust deposits from the mounting
surface and around the valve.
- Look for exhaust deposits in the valve outlet. Remove the deposit
build-up with a screwdriver.
- Clean the mounting surfaces of the intake manifold and the valve
assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new EGR gasket (2).
- Install the EGR valve (1) to the manifold.
- Install the bolts or the nuts (4).
- Connect the vacuum tube to the valve.
- Install the air cleaner.
