A heated air intake system gives good driveability under varying climatic conditions. Having a uniform inlet air temperature improves the fuel vaporization.
The air intake system regulates the incoming air (snorkel 1) temperature without the use of a vacuum. A self-contained, wax-pellet actuated assembly (2) mounted in the air cleaner controls the air regulating damper. When the incoming air is cold, the wax material sealed in the actuator is in a solid (contracted) phase. This causes the damper (3) to close off the cold air inlet and open the hot air inlet.
