Important: Purge the fuel tank before you service it.

1. Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement - Right Side and Fuel Tank Replacement - Left Side .
2. Remove the fuel sender assembly from the tank.



3. Inspect the fuel tank for any remaining fuel (2).

1. Fill the tank with tap water.
2. Move the tank to the flushing area (wash rack).
3. Agitate the water vigorously. Then drain the water.

Important: Refer to the emulsifying agent specifications for the mixture ratio.

4. Place the gasoline emulsifying agent into the tank.

Use an available emulsifying agent, such as Product-Sol No. 913, or the equivalent.

5. Fill the tank with water until it overflows.
6. Agitate the mixture for ten minutes.
7. Completely flush out any remaining mixture.
8. Drain the fuel tank.
9. Use an explosion meter (if available) in order to check for a negative reading.
10. Perform the required service work.
11. Install the fuel sender assembly.
12. Install the fuel tank into the vehicle. Refer to Fuel Feed and Fuel Return Pipe Assembly Replace .
