Catalytic Converter Replacement L18

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 738369  Size: SH
  1. Remove the nuts from the catalytic converter hanger clamp and remove the clamp.

  2. Object Number: 738367  Size: SH
  3. Remove the nuts from the tailpipe to catalyic converter clamp and remove the clamp.
  4. Remove the tailpipe.

  5. Object Number: 738368  Size: SH
  6. Remove the nuts from the catalytic coverter to muffler flange and remove the catalytic converter.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 738368  Size: SH
  1. Install the catalytic converter to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the nuts to the catalytic coverter to muffler flange.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 64 N·m (47 lb ft).

  5. Install the tailpipe and clamp.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).


    Object Number: 738369  Size: SH
  7. Install the catalytic converetr hanger clamp and nuts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).

  9. Check for clearance and alignment.
