Removal Procedure

    Notice: The EH pump operates on power steering fluid only. Do not service the EH pump in any brake servicing area. Be sure hands are clean of all brake fluid. Contamination can cause swelling and deterioration of rubber parts, brake damage, and the eventual loss of braking capability.

  1. Block the vehicle wheels.
  2. Remove the booster assembly. Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement .
  3. Remove the bolt and the spring washer.
  4. Position a container in order to catch any leaking fluid.
  5. Remove the identification tag.
  6. Remove the bolts and the spring washers.
  7. Remove the electrohydraulic pump.
  8. Remove the O-ring seals.
  9. Remove the relief valve and the spring.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the relief valve with the slotted end towards the center of the booster body.
  2. Install the spring.
  3. Install the new O-ring seals.
  4. Install the electrohydraulic pump.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the bolts and the spring washers.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 31 N·m (23 lb ft).

  8. Install the identification tag.
  9. Install the spring washer and the bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 13 N·m (116 lb in).

  11. Install the booster assembly. Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement .
  12. Fill the hydraulic pump reservoir.
  13. Bleed the system.
  14. Inspect the vehicle for proper brake operation.
  15. Remove the wheel blocks.
