Removal Procedure
- Clean the area around the drain and fill plugs.
- Remove the oil fill plug from the transmission case.
- Position a container under the oil drain hole in order to catch
the transmission oil.
- Remove the oil drain plug from the transmission case.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the oil
drain plug to the transmission case.
Tighten
- Tighten the Eaton® FS Transmission oil drain plug to 31 N·m
(23 lb ft).
- Tighten the Eaton® RT Transmission oil drain plug to 68 N·m
(50 lb ft).
- Tighten the Spicer® ES Transmission oil drain plug to 45 N·m
(33 lb ft).
- Fill the transmission with oil to the level of the oil fill plug
hole. Refer to

- Install the oil fill plug to the transmission case.
