Generator Bracket Replacement L65
Removal Procedure
- Disconnect both the battery
negative cables from the batteries. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Remove the upper fan shroud from the radiator. Refer to
Fan Shroud Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the generator from the generator bracket. Refer to
Generator Replacement
.
- Remove the drive belt tensioner from the generator bracket.
- Remove the vacuum pump
from the generator bracket. Refer to
Vacuum Pump Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 6.5L.
- Remove the generator bracket bolts from the engine block.
- Remove the generator bracket from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the generator
bracket to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the generator
bracket bolts to the engine block.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts and nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the drive belt
tensioner to the generator bracket.
Tighten
Tighten tensioner bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the vacuum pump to the generator bracket. Refer to Remove
the vacuum pump from the generator bracket. Refer to
Vacuum Pump Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 6.5L.
- Install the generator to the generator bracket. Refer to
Generator Replacement
.
- Install the upper fan shroud to the radiator. Refer to
Fan Shroud Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Connect both the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer
to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.

- Remove the drive belt idler pulley. Refer to

- Remove the generator bracket bolt (2) and nut.
Installation Procedure

bracket bolt (2) and nut.
Tighten
• | Tighten the generator bracket bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the generator bracket nut to 41 N·m (30 lb ft). |

- Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to
