Diagnostic Aids

A rattling or clicking noise is coming from the clutch or the transmission there may be oil on the driven plate damper or the clutch disc. The clutch disc may have damaged or weak disc plate springs and diaphragm springs. If there is still more rattling, there might be internal transmission concern.

Did you review the clutch symptom operations and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Inspect for transmission fluid on the driven plate damper.

Is there fluid on the driven plate damper?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 3

Inspect the transmission for noise.

Is the transmission OK?

Go to Step 5

Go to Transmission Replacement in NV-4500

Fix the leak source. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement

Install a new driven disc.

Does the clutch still rattle?

Go to Step 5

System OK

Remove the clutch disc and check for the following conditions:

    • Damaged diaphragm springs
    • Warn clutch disc.

Is the diaphragm springs damaged or the clutch disc warn?

Go to Step 6

System OK

Replace the necessary components. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement .

Did you find and repair the condition?

Go to Step 7

  1. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission NV-4500.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
