Air Temperature Door Replacement C60

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
3. Remove the HVAC module assembly. Refer to Heater/Vent Module Replacement .
4. Remove the screws from the HVAC module case cover (10) from the HVAC module.
5. Remove the HVAC module case cover (10).



6. Separate the module halves.
7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the temperature actuator.



8. Remove the screws from the air temperature actuator.
9. Remove the actuator from the HVAC module.



10. Remove the air temperature door (17) from the blower motor case (1).

1. Install the air temperature door (17) to the blower motor case (1).



2. Install the air temperature actuator to the HVAC module.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the screws to the air temperature actuator.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

4. Connect the electrical connector to the air temperature actuator.



5. Install the module halves.
6. Install the HVAC module case cover.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. 7. Install the screws to the HVAC module case cover.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

8. Install the HVAC module assembly. Refer to Heater/Vent Module Replacement .
9. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
10. Fill the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
11. Leak test the fittings of the component using theJ 39400-A .

Air Temperature Door Replacement C42

1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
2. Remove the heater vent module. Refer to Heater/Vent Module Replacement .



3. Remove the screws from the heater case cover (8) of the heater vent module.
4. Remove the heater case cover (8).
5. Separate the module halves.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the temperature actuator.



7. Remove the screws from the air temperature actuator.
8. Remove the actuator from the heater vent module.



9. Remove the air temperature door (16) from blower motor case (1).

1. Install the air temperature door (16) to the blower motor case (1).



2. Install the air temperature actuator to the heater vent module.

6. Install the heater case cover (8) to the HVAC module.
