  1. Place the key in the ignition, with the ignition OFF.
  2. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the multifunction alarm module and a good ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Remove the multifunction alarm module from the convenience center.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the multifunction alarm module and the key-in ignition switch signal circuit.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Replace the multifunction alarm module that was removed from the convenience center.
  2. Disconnect the driver door jamb switch connector.
  3. Place the key in the ignition, with the ignition OFF.
  4. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the key-in ignition switch signal circuit and the driver door jamb switch ground circuit.

Does the chime sound?

Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the key-in ignition switch signal circuit and a good ground.

Test the key-in ignition switch signal circuit for an open or a high resistance between the key-in ignition switch and the driver door jamb switch; and between the key-in ignition switch and the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for intermittent and poor connections at the harness connector of the multifunction alarm module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for intermittent and poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door jamb switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
