Did you review the daytime running lamps (DRL) operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Exterior Lighting Systems Description and Operation

  1. Turn ON the ignition switch, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn OFF the headlamp switch.
  3. Ensure the parking brake is disengaged.

Does the DRL indicator illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Are the daytime running lights illuminated?

Go to Step 4

Go to Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Inoperative

Are other instrument cluster indicators inoperative?

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

Go to Step 5

Test the DRL indicator control circuit for an open or short to battery voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect the DRL indicator light bulb for an open.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the instrument cluster (IPC). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the instrument cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?
