  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  2. Operate the turn signal switch in both the left and right hand turn signal positions.

Does the turn signal system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Electrical Intermittents

Are all of the turn signal lamps inoperative?

Is only one turn signal lamp inoperative?

Test the turn signal lamp supply voltage circuit of the inoperative lamp for high resistance, or an open . Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn on the left or right turn signal.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the turn/hazard module supply voltage circuit at the turn/hazard flasher and a good ground.

Test the turn/hazard module supply voltage circuit of the turn/hazard flasher for an open, short to ground or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ignition 1 voltage circuit of the turn/hazard switch for an open, short to ground or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the appropriate turn signal lamp supply voltage circuit of the IC connector and a good ground.
  3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  4. Turn the turn signal switch to the appropriate turn signal on position.

Does the test lamp illuminate with the turn signal?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the inoperative lamp connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
