  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the seat belt indicator during bulb check.

Does the seat belt indicator illuminate during bulb check?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the multifunction alarm module from the convenience center.
  3. Connect a fused jumper from the seat belt indicator control circuit of the multifunction alarm module to the ignition 1 input circuit.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the seat belt indicator illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Test the seat belt indicator control circuit for a short to ground, high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the instrument cluster ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster harness connector. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Inspect the instrument cluster harness connector for corrosion or damage. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair or replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
