J 2222-C Wheel Bearing Nut Wrench

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the axle shaft. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft and/or Gasket Replacement .
  4. Remove the brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  5. Disengage the lock tab from the outer wheel bearing adjuster nut.

  6. Object Number: 762334  Size: SH
  7. Remove the outer wheel bearing adjuster nut using the J 2222-C .

  8. Object Number: 762335  Size: SH
  9. Remove the wheel bearing adjuster nut lock.
  10. Remove the inner wheel bearing adjuster nut using the J 2222-C .

  11. Object Number: 762461  Size: SH
  12. Remove the hub and rotor assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply a light coat of high melting point EP bearing lubricant to the contact surfaces of the hub and rotor assembly and on the outside of the axle tube.

  2. Object Number: 762461  Size: SH
  3. Install the wheel hub/rotor assembly to the axle tube.
  4. Ensure that the bearings and the oil seal are positioned properly.

  5. Install the inner wheel bearing adjuster nut using the J 2222-C .
  6. Adjust the wheel bearing preload. Refer to Wheel Bearing Adjustment .
  7. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  8. Install the axle shaft. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft and/or Gasket Replacement .
  9. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
