Removal Procedure
- If necessary, remove the exhaust muffler. Refer to Muffler Replacement .
- If necessary, remove the exhaust muffler front hanger bolts and hanger.
- If necessary, remove the exhaust muffler intermediate hanger bolts and hanger.
- If necessary, remove the exhaust muffler rear hanger bolts, nuts and hanger.
Installation Procedure
- If necessary, install the exhaust muffler rear hanger, bolts, and nuts.
- If necessary, install the exhaust muffler intermediate hanger and bolts.
- If necessary, install the exhaust muffler front hanger and bolts.
- If necessary, install the exhaust muffler. Refer to Muffler Replacement .
- If necessary, install the hanger to the manifold pipe.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
| • | Tighten the exhaust muffler rear hanger bolts to 48 N·m (35 lb ft). |
| • | Tighten the exhaust muffler rear hanger nuts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft). |
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust muffler intermediate hanger
bolts to 34 N·m (25 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust muffler front hanger bolts to
34 N·m (25 lb ft).
