Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Hood Hold-Open Device Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and support the hood at the front.
  2. Remove the link assembly from the hinge. Refer to Hood Link Replacement .
  3. Lower the hood.
  4. Remove the outboard section of the cowl vent grille.

    5. Object Number: 277513 Size: MH
  5. Remove the bolts (5) that attach the hinge to the fender bracket.
  6. Raise and support the hood at the front and the rear.
  7. Remove the hood seals from over the hinges.
  8. Remove the bolts (9) that secure the hinge to the hood.
  9. Remove the hinge (2) from the hood (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 277513 Size: MH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the hinge to the hood with the bolts.

    2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  2. Install the hood seals over the hinges.
  3. Lower the hood.
  4. Install the bolts (5) that secure the hinge to the fender pivot.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the outboard section of the cowl vent grille.
  6. Raise and support the front of the hood.
  7. Install the link assembly to the hinge. Refer to Hood Link Replacement .
  8. Lower the hood.
