Did you review the system operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Insert the key into the ignition, with the ignition OFF.
  2. Open the driver door.

Does the chime activate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the multifunction alarm module (MFAM).
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the MFAM and a good ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the MFAM and the key-in-ignition switch signal circuit.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Connect the MFAM.
  2. Disconnect the driver door jamb switch.
  3. Insert the key into the ignition, with the ignition OFF.
  4. Connect a 3 ampere fused jumper between the driver door switch signal circuit and the driver door jamb switch ground circuit.

Does the chime activate?

  1. Disconnect the key-in-ignition switch.
  2. Connect a 3 ampere fused jumper between the key-in-ignition switch signal circuit and a good ground.
