Windshield Wiper/Washer System Components

The windshield wiper/washer system consists of the following components:

    • Windshield wiper/washer switch
    • Windshield wiper motor
    • Windshield washer pump
    • WIPER 25A fuse

Windshield Wiper/Washer System Operation

The windshield wiper motor module controls the accessory voltage supply circuit used to power the windshield wiper motor and windshield washer pump during all operating modes. During mist, delay, and low operation, accessory voltage supplied to the windshield wiper/washer switch is reduced through one of the internal resistors and supplied to the wiper motor module through the low/delay signal circuit. When the windshield washer switch is pressed the accessory voltage supply to the windshield wiper/washer switch is closed to the low/delay signal circuit with no resistor. The delay interval, low speed operation, and wash mode is determined by the voltage level of the low/delay signal circuit to the windshield wiper motor module. When the windshield wiper/washer switch is turned to the high speed position the accessory voltage to the switch is closed to the high speed signal circuit, and the low/delay signal circuit is at the low speed signal voltage level.
