Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 394907 Size: SH
  1. Install 2 new transfer tubes  (12) into the combination valve (11).
  2. Install the combination valve (11) to the BPMV (3).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the 3 Allen bolts (10) that fasten the combination valve (11) to the BPMV (3).
  5. Tighten
Tighten the 3 Allen bolts to 8 N·m (6 lb ft), then to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

Important: Do not use RTV or any other type of sealant on the EBCM gasket or mating surfaces.

  6. Install the EBCM (2) to the EHCU (3).
  7. Important: Do not reuse the EBCM mounting bolts (1). Always install new bolts.

  8. Install the 4 EBCM bolts (1).
  9. Tighten
Tighten the 4 bolts to 5 N·m (39 lb in) in an X-pattern.

  10. Install the BPMV (3) to bracket (6).
  11. Install the 3 bracket retaining bolts (8) to the BPMV (3).
  12. Tighten
Tighten the 3 bolts to 9 N·m (7 lb ft).

  13. Connect the electrical connectors to the EBCM (2).
  14. Install the EHCU and bracket to the vehicle.
  15. Install the EHCU bracket to vehicle mounting bracket bolts.
  16. Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 27 N·m (19 lb ft).

  17. Install the brake pipes to combination valve (11) and the tube adapters (5).
  18. Tighten
Tighten the brake pipe fittings to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  19. Connect the electrical connector to the combination valve (11).
  20. Important: Verify that the combination valve metering rod is depressed during bleeding.

  21. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding in Hydraulic Brakes.
  22. Return to Diagnostic System Check - ABS .
