J 24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 245391  Size: SH
  3. Remove the nut from the drag link (9) ball stud.
  4. Loosen the adjuster sleeve retaining nuts.

  5. Object Number: 754765  Size: SH
  6. Remove the drag link from the tie rod using the J 24319-B (1).
  7. Remove drag link from adjuster sleeve.
  8. Inspect the threads on the adjuster sleeve for damage.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the drag link to the adjuster sleeve.

  2. Object Number: 245391  Size: SH
  3. Install the drag link ball stud to the tie rod (1).
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the nut to the drag link ball stud.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 104 N·m (77 lb ft).

  7. Tighten the adjuster sleeve retaining nuts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the adjuster sleeve nuts to 104 N·m (77 lb  ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
