Dear General Motors Customer:
General Motors of Canada Limited has determined that certain 1989-90 C/K 1500-3500 Series Extended Cab Trucks contain incorrect instructions on how to properly adjust the rear seat lap- shoulder belts. Since the instructions provided do not describe "proper use" of the seat belt assembly, they fail to conform to the requirements of Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies."
To correct this condition, we have enclosed an Owner's Manual insert containing the correct rear lap-shoulder belt instructions. The information in this insert replaces the "LAP-SHOULDER BELTS " information found on pages 1-9 and 1 - 11 of the 1989 Owner's Manuals or pages 1 - 1 0 through 1-12 of the 1990 Owner's Manuals. Please read the enclosed insert carefully before inserting it in your Owner's Manual between pages 1-8 and 1-9 (1989 or 1990 Manuals). The Owner's Manual and enclosed insert should be furnished to any subsequent owner so that they will have the correct instructions.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
