- Install the oil pan.
Refer to Oil Pan Installation
- Install the engine flywheel (RWD vehicles). Refer to
Engine Flywheel Replacement
.
- Install the transmission (RWD vehicles).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the transmission
to oil pan bolts (Four Wheel Drive only).
Tighten
Tighten the transmission to the oil pan bolts to 47 N·m
(35 lb ft).
- Install the access plugs
for the oil pan rear nuts.
- Install the bolt holding
the bracket for the transmission cooler pipes. If equipped.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the oil filter adapter. Refer to
Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve Assembly Replacement
.
- Install the bolt holding
the oil cooler pipe clip to the oil pan.
Tighten
Tighten the clip bolt to 10 N·m (88 lb in).
- Install the transmission
cover and bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the transmission cover bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the starter motor. Refer to
Starter Motor Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Install the front differential assembly. Refer to
Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement
in Front Drive Axle.
- Install the oil pan drain plug. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the oil level indicator.
- Fill the engine with engine oil. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
.
- Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to
Battery Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
