Removal Procedure

Notice:

   • Handle the MAF sensor carefully.
   • Do not drop the MAF sensor in order to prevent damage to the MAF sensor.
   • Do not damage the screen located on the air inlet end of the MAF.
   • Do not touch the sensing elements.
   • Do not allow solvents and lubricants to come in contact with the sensing elements.
   • Use a small amount of a soap based solution in order to aid in the installation.

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  3. Disconnect the MAF sensor harness connector.

  4. Object Number: 308131 Size: SH
  5. Remove the intake air resonator retaining wingnut.

  6. Object Number: 308130 Size: SH
  7. Remove the intake air resonator from the throttle body by pivoting the intake air resonator upward until the hinge clip releases from the lip on the throttle body.

  8. Object Number: 321716 Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the MAF sensor from the air cleaner cover and intake air resonator by loosening the hose clamps.
  10. Carefully remove the MAF sensor.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 321716 Size: SH

Important: Ensure that the MAF sensor flow arrows point away from the air cleaner assembly.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Attach the MAF sensor to the intake air resonator and air cleaner cover by tightening the hose clamps.
  2. Tighten
Tighten the clamps to 4 N·m (35 lb in)

    Object Number: 281851 Size: SH
  3. Connect the MAF sensor harness connector.

  4. Object Number: 308130 Size: SH
  5. Align the hinge clip with the lip on the throttle body.
  6. Install the intake air resonator to the throttle body by pivoting the intake air resonator downward until the mounting stud is through the hole in the intake air resonator.
