Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle Column Shift

Assembly Procedure

Tools Required
J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture


    Object Number: 324816  Size: SH
  1. Install the shroud protector (1) to the lower shroud (2).

  2. Object Number: 324810  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the upper shroud (2) and secure by using 1 torx head screw (1).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screw to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  5. Install the lower shroud (2) and secure by using 2 pan head tapping screws (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3.4 N·m (30 lb in).

  7. Take the column out from the J 41352 .

    Object Number: 324816  Size: SH
  1. Install the shroud protector (1) to the lower shroud (2).

  2. Object Number: 324810  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   7. Take the column out from the J 41352 .
