For on-vehicle service of nondemountable rear brake drums, refer to Hub and Drum Assembly Replacement in Rear Axle.

1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle with suitable safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the tire and the wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.



3. Install the pin into the park brake lever. Refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment in Parking Brake.
4. Mark the relationship of the rear brake drum to the axle for reference.
5. Remove the rear brake drum retainers if present.
6. Remove the rear brake drum from the vehicle.

1. Locate the relationship mark and install the brake drum to the axle.
2. Install the rear brake drum retainers if necessary.
3. Remove the pin from the park brake lever. Refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment in Parking Brake.
4. Install the tire and the wheel. Refer to in Tires Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels.
5. Adjust the rear brakes. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .
6. Remove the safety stands. Lower the vehicle.
