  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect a scan tool.
  3. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  4. Using the scan tool, check for any DTCs in the body control module (BCM).

Does the scan tool show any DTCs?

Turn the park lamps ON.

Do the park lamps operate properly?

Using the scan tool, read the park lamp status.

Does the scan tool show the park lamp status as ON?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 2409 (BRN) between the body control module (BCM) and the left bussed electrical center (LBEC).

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

Using the scan tool, command the foglamps ON.

Do the foglamps light?

--

  1. Remove the FOG LPS fuse.
  2. Inspect the fuse.

Is the fuse open?

--

  1. Locate and repair the short or intermittent to short to ground CKT 34 (PPL) between the foglamps, the foglamp switch and the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC).
  2. Replace the fuse.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Using the scan tool, read the front fog lamp switch status.
  2. While reading the scan tool, depress and hold the fog lamp switch.

Does the scan tool show the switch status as ON?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the foglamp switch from instrument panel (IP).
  3. Connect a self-powered test lamp (back probe) from terminal F to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 10

  1. Connect a self-powered test lamp (back probe) from terminal B to ground.
  2. While probing, depress and hold the switch.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 14

Replace the foglamp switch. Refer to Fog Lamp Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 1850 (BLK) between the switch and the mid bussed electrical center (MBEC).

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 192 (ORN) between the switch and the BCM.

If no open is found, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement Body Control Systems.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn headlamp switch to the auto position.
  2. Turn the ignition OFF.
  3. Re-install the FOG LPS fuse.
  4. Disconnect the BCM.
  5. Turn headlamp switch to the PARK position.
  6. Using a J 39200 , digital multimeter (DMM) and a J 35616 adapter, measure the voltage from terminal A7 of C2 at the BCM to ground.

Is the voltage within the indicated range?

11-13 Volts

  1. Disconnect the fog lamp relay.
  2. Using the J 35616 adapter, connect a fused jumper wire from terminal 30 to terminal 87 of the relay socket.

Do the foglamps light?

Replace the fog lamp relay.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Disconnect one of the foglamps.
  2. Connect a test lamp from terminal A to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 20

  1. Inspect for a proper connection and terminal A3 of connector C4 at the UBEC.
  2. Locate and repair the open in CKT 34 (PPL) between the lights and the UBEC.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Connect a self-powered test lamp from terminal B to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Locate and repair the open in CKT 150 (BLK) between the lights and ground.

Is the repair complete?
