  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect a scan tool.
  3. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  4. Using the scan tool, check for any DTCs in the body control module (BCM).

Does the scan tool show any DTCs?

Turn the park lamps ON.

Do the park lamps function properly?

Go to Step 3

Go to Park Lamps Inoperative

Remove and inspect the ILLUM fuse.

Is the fuse open?

Go to Step 4

  1. Locate and repair CKT 8 (GRY) for a short to ground.
  2. Replace the fuse.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Re-install the fuse.
  2. Ensure the panel dimmer rheostat is at maximum.
  3. Connect a test lamp from fuse to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 9

Connect a test lamp (back probe) from terminal K of the headlamp and panel dimmer switch to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 8

Replace the headlamp and panel dimmer switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Locate and repair the open in CKT 44 (DK GRN) between the switch and the fuse.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster.
  2. Connect a test lamp from terminal A7 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 8 (GRY) between the fuse and the cluster.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Connect a self powered test lamp from terminal A6 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Repair or replace the instrument cluster lights as needed. Refer to Instrument Cluster Bulb Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Locate and repair CKT 1850 (BLK) for an open to ground.
