Observe the following precautions when working on a vehicle that is equipped with ABS:

    • Turn the ignition OFF and disconnect the EBCM connectors prior to welding any part the vehicle with an electric welding unit.
    • Do not use a fast battery charger for starting the engine.

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

    • Disconnect the negative battery cable when fast charging the battery.
    • Never disconnect a battery cable from the battery while the engine is running.
    • Connect all wiring harness connectors securely.
    • Note the routing, position, mounting and locations of the following items when servicing the ABS:
       - Components
       - Wiring
       - Electrical connectors
       - Retaining clips
       - Brackets
       - Brake lines
    • Route and secure the speed sensor circuit wiring properly in order to prevent damage and signal interference due to electrical noise. Maintain or restore the original condition of the ABS in order to acheive a correctly functioning and reliable system.
