Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Fasten the LH front seat belt.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the fasten seat belts parameter in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the seat belt is buckled?

  1. Disconnect the LH front seat belt buckle switch connector.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the fasten seat belts parameter.

Does the seat belt parameter change state?

Go to Step 5

Replace the LH seat belt buckle. Refer to Front Seat Belt Buckle Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 9

Test the signal circuit of the seat belt switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the body control module (BCM).

Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control Systems.

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC).
