  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the fasten safety belts indicator illumination during bulb check.

Does the fasten safety belts indicator illuminate during bulb check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Unfasten the LH seat belt.
  3. With the scan tool, observe the fasten seat belts parameter in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) data list.

Does the scan tool indicate that the seat belt is unbuckled?

Replace the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

  1. Disconnect the LH front seat belt switch connector.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the fasten seat belts parameter.

Does the seat belt parameter change state?

Replace the LH seat belt buckle switch.

Refer to Front Seat Belt Buckle Replacement .

Test the signal circuit of the seat belt switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the ground circuit of the seat belt switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
