  1. Turn ON the park lamps.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Park Lamps Data parameter.

Does the scan tool display ON?

Go to Step 4

Go to Park Lamps Inoperative

With the scan tool, command the foglamps ON.

Do the foglamps illuminate?

  1. Remove the FOG LPS fuse.
  2. Inspect the fuse. Refer to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems.

Is the fuse open?

  1. With the scan tool, read the front fog lamp switch status.
  2. While reading the scan tool, press the fog lamp switch and hold the switch.

Does the scan tool display the switch status as ON?

  1. Connect a test lamp (back probe) between the fog lamp switch output circuit and a battery positive voltage circuit.
  2. While probing, press the switch and hold the switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn headlamp switch to the auto position.
  2. Turn OFF the ignition.
  3. Re-install the FOG LPS fuse.
  4. Disconnect the BCM.
  5. Turn Headlamp Switch to the PARK position.
  6. Using the J 39200 DMM and the J 35616-A adapter, measure the volage from the fog lamp relay control circuit to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

11-13 V

  1. Disconnect the fog lamp relay.
  2. Using the J 35616 adapter, connect a fused jumper wire between the relay socket.

Do the fog lamps illuminate?

  1. Disconnect 1 of the fog lamps.
  2. Connect a test lamp from terminal A to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp from between the lamp ground circuit and a battery positive voltage circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the fog lamp switch from instrument panel (IP).
  3. Connect a test lamp (back probe) between the switch ground circuit and a battery positive voltage circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Repair the short or the intermittent short to ground in the fog lamp relay output circuit between the foglamps, the foglamp switch and the engine wiring harness junction block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems
  2. Replace the fuse.

Repair the open in the ground circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the fog lamp switch output circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. If no open is found, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

  1. Check for proper connection and terminal A3 of connector C4 at the engine wiring harness junction block.
  2. Repair the open in the fog lamp feed circuit between the fog lamps and the engine wiring harness junction block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the lamp ground circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the fog lamp relay control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. If no open is found, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
