Did you perform the Lighting Diagnostic System Check?

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Turn the park lamps ON.

Do the park lamps function properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Park Lamps Inoperative

  1. Disconnect the component with inoperative VF display (radio or instrument cluster).
  2. Connect a test lamp between the instrument panel lamp feed circuit and to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

With the J 39200 DMM, measure the voltage between the LED dimming signal circuit and a good ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

8-12  V

Go to Step 7

Repair the open in the instrument panel lamp feed circuit between the component and the fuse. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the component with the inoperative VF display:

    • For radio, refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
    • For instrument cluster, refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Repair the open in the LED dimming signal circuit between the component and the BCM. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems. If no open is found, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
