Ignition Coil Replacement Ignition Coils and Bracket

1. Disconnect the main electrical connector feeding the ignition coils.



2. Disconnect the spark plug wires at the ignition coils.



3. Remove the ignition coil bracket studs from the rocker arm cover.
4. Remove the ignition coil bracket.

1. Install the ignition coil and bracket assembly to the valve rocker arm cover.
2. Apply threadlock GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent to the threads of the ignition coil and bracket assembly studs.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the ignition coil mounting bracket studs.

Tighten
Tighten the ignition coil bracket mounting studs to 12 N·m (106 lb in).




4. Connect the spark plug wires at the ignition coils.



5. Connect the ignition coil harness connector.
6. Connect the main electrical connector feeding the ignition coils.

Tighten
Tighten the harness nut to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

Ignition Coil Replacement 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L

1. Disconnect the spark plug wires at the ignition coils.



2. Disconnect the ignition coil harness connector.



3. Remove the ignition coil mounting bolts.



4. Remove the ignition coil.

1. Install ignition coil to bracket.




Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. 2. Install the ignition coil mounting bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the ignition coil mounting bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).




3. Connect the ignition coil harness connector.



4. Connect the spark plug wires at the ignition coils.
