Verify that the RAP is inoperative by closing all doors, key on, and assure the radio and window switches function..

Does the RAP system operate normally?

Are the passenger side windows and sunroof inoperative, but driver side windows work in RAP?

If working on a pickup, go directly to step 4.

Inspect the RAP fuse in the underhood fuse block.

Is the fuse open?

Inspect for poor connections at the LBEC for the RAP relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the RAP relay.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair the short to ground in the RAP relay feed circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the RAP 2 relay.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn OFF the ignition.
  4. Probe the control circuit of the RAP 2 relay with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the RAP 2 relay and the ground circuit of the RAP 2 relay.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Open a door, does the test lamp remain illuminated up to the point of opening the door?

Test the control circuit of the RAP 2 relay for an open. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the RAP 2 Relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the poor connections at the harness connector of the RAP 2 relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems.
