Open and close each door. Does the courtesy lamps turn on/off for each door?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Cycle the ignition from on to off.
  3. With the scan tool, observe the Retained Accessory Power Timer in the BCM, data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the BCM is enabling the countdown timer for RAP?

  1. Disconnect the RAP Relay.
  2. Probe the control circuit of the relay with a test lamp that is connected to battery voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the Body Control Module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a short to voltage on the supply voltage feed circuit of the RAP Relay. Refer to Testing for a Short to Voltage in Wiring Systems.
