When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

SERVICE VME

Four new special service tools are currently being sent to the top two tiers (dealers selling 300 or more vehicles per year) of Chevrolet and GMC dealers. These tools include a 4wd spanner nut wrench, rear bearing puller legs, digital depth micrometer and a rear bearing installer. Shipment of these tools should be complete by the end of June. These tools are required to replace a cracked extension housing on an Allison installed in a 4wd pickup. A bulletin will be issued in the coming weeks detailing this replacement procedure as well as the parts required for this repair. Additional service tools will be shipped in the third quarter of this year to the same group of dealers. These tools are required for full internal service of the Allison transmission. A bulletin will be issued in the third quarter announcing full internal service of the Allison and providing further details. While these tools are essential for the top two tiers of dealers, they are also available for purchase by all other GM dealers.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
