The front floor console is located between the driver and passenger seats. The console fits over the tunnel in the floor of the vehicle. The console extends from under the center of the instrument panel (I/P) to just behind the driver's seat.
The console is equipped with the following items:
• | A 12-volt power outlet |
• | A driver's side cup holder |
• | A passenger's side cup holder |
The console storage compartment is located at the rear of the console and is locked and unlocked by a console key. The storage compartment also may contain a cassette tape/compact disc holder.
On select GMC vehicles the console may contain, in addition to the above, the following:
• | A driver's thermo cupholder |
• | A thermo cooler located in the console storage compartment |
A thermo cupholder switch, located next to the thermo cupholder, controls the hot and cold mode of the cupholder. In the cold mode the cupholder can reach a temperature of 5°C (41°F). In the hot mode it can reach a temperature of 66°C (151°F).
The thermo cooler can be removed from the console storage compartment and it has its own power feed when it is placed in the console. Low battery voltage protection is provided by a battery monitor which will cut power to the thermo cooler if the battery voltage drops below 11.6 volts. A thermo cooler switch located in the console, next to the thermo cupholder switch, allows the thermo cooler to be turned off or on without removing it from the console storage compartment.
