The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that upon a cold start an audible belt chirp noise can be heard in the vehicles passenger compartment. The noise can be typically heard at idle, after a cold start, and vary in pitch with increased RPM.
Recommendation/Instructions:
The power steering pump pulley may be installed to far inboard on the power steering pump shaft.
The power steering pulley needs to be pulled flush with power steering pump shaft. Evaluate the belt noise after repositioning the power steering pulley.
Drive belt replacement should not be needed.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
