The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
The customer concern may be the Surge Tank coolant level is low.
The Surge Tank coolant level may not be low when the PDI is completed.
It may take a few engine temperature cycles (from operating temperature to cold) for the coolant level to show a lower then normal level.
Certain 2006 6.6 LLY and LBZ Diesel engines may have been released from the plant with a low coolant fill.
Be sure to complete the current SI coolant system leak checks and verify there are no external leaks.
If no leaks are found, refill the cooling system following SI procedures for filling the cooling system.
Evaluate coolant levels after a proper coolant fill is completed.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
