    • J 8062 Valve Spring Compressor
    • J 37979 Valve Spring Compressor Adaptor
    • J 36017 Valve Guide Seal Remover

    Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

    Important: Keep the valve train components together and identified in order for proper installation in their original position.

    Caution: Compressed valve springs have high tension against the valve spring compressor. Valve springs that are not properly compressed by or released from the valve spring compressor can be ejected from the valve spring compressor with intense force. Use care when compressing or releasing the valve spring with the valve spring compressor and when removing or installing the valve stem keys. Failing to use care may cause personal injury.

  1. Compress the valve spring using the J 8062 and the J 37979 .
  2. Remove the valve keepers using a magnet or small screwdriver.
  3. Slowly release the J 8062 from the valve spring assembly.

  5. Remove the retainer and the inner and the outer valve springs.
  6. Both the inner and outer valve springs have a top, large-pitch, and bottom, small pitch, end. The small-pitch end is installed towards the valve spring seat.

    Notice: Do not damage the valve guide. Remove any burrs that have formed at the key groove by chamfering the valve stem with an oil stone or a file.

  7. Remove the valve seal (1) using the J 36017 .
  8. Remove the spring seat.

  10. Remove the valve.
  11. Remove the remaining valve springs and valves.
