    Object Number: 648577  Size: SH
  1. Verify that the keyway on the crankshaft (2) is properly positioned.
  2. Apply oil to the camshaft lobes and journals.

  3. Object Number: 648581  Size: SH
  4. Install the right timing chain to the camshaft sprockets by aligning the silver or yellow links (1) with the marks (2, 3) on the camshaft sprockets.
  5. Install the camshafts with the timing chain to the cylinder head.

  6. Object Number: 648131  Size: SH
  7. Install the dowel pins (2) to the cylinder head.
  8. Apply oil to the camshaft bearing cap bolts.

  9. Object Number: 465393  Size: SH

    Important: Cylinder head and camshaft damage may result if the bearing caps are incorrectly installed.

  10. Install the camshaft bearing caps. The caps are marked intake or exhaust (1), position away from the timing chain (2), and direction toward the timing chain (3).
  11. Tighten the camshaft bearing caps.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the camshaft bearing caps in 3 progressive steps in the sequence shown to 12 N·m (8.5 lb ft).

  13. Install the right secondary timing chain guide (1). Secure with the 2 bolts.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (7.5 lb ft).

  15. Install the right sprocket and primary timing chain. Refer to Primary Timing Chain Installation .
  16. Install the left secondary timing chain. Refer to Secondary Timing Chain Installation - Left Side .
  17. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Installation .
