CAMPAIGN: EMISSION AIR CLEANER INCORRECT HOSE ROUTING

GENERAL MOTORS HAS DETERMINED THAT SOME 1981 "G" VANS EQUIPPED WITH RPO LE3 (250 CID, 2 BBL, 4.1 LITRE L6 ENGINE) MAY HAVE THE HOSE CONNECTIONS TO THE TERMAL SWITCH ON THE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY REVERSED. IF NOT CORRECTED, THIS CONDITION WILL PREVENT PROPER OPERATION OF THE THERMAL SWITCH AND COULD AFFECT ACCELERATION PERFORMANCE AT COLDER TEMPERATURES.

TO BRING THESE VEHICLES INTO COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE EMISSION REGULATIONS, CHEVROLET DEALERS ARE TO MAKE THE NECESSARY MODIFICATION IN THE HOSE ROUTING PER THE SERVICE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THIS CAMPAIGN BULLETIN.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
