POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY MISALIGNMENT

SUBJECT: POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY MISALIGNMENT (MOVE PULLEY FORWARD)

MODELS: 1995 CHEVROLET G MODELS - VINS SF162199 THRU SF170104 1995 GMC TRUCK G MODELS - VINS SF524598 THRU SF526478 WITH 4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L AND 7.4L ENGINE (VINS Z, H, K, N - RPOS LB4, L03, L05, L19) AND 4L60-E/4L80-E TRANSMISSION (RPOS M30, MT1)

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS OF THE VEHICLES INVOLVED MAY EXPERIENCE A POWER STEERING PUMP SEAL FAILURE ALONG WITH PREMATURE ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT NOISE AND POSSIBLE FAILURE.

CAUSE:

THE POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY MAY BE MISALIGNED.

CORRECTION:

IN ADDITION TO THE NORMAL SERVICE FOR THE ABOVE CONDITIONS, FOR VEHICLES WITHIN THE ABOVE VIN RANGES CHECK TO SEE THAT THE PULLEY IS FLUSH WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP SHAFT. IF IT IS NOT, REFERENCE SECTION 3B-17 OF THE 1995 G VAN SERVICE MANUAL FOR FURTHER SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS.
