SUBJECT: DRIVER AND/OR PASSENGER SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY TWISTS OR BINDS (INSTALL NEW SEAT BELT RETRACTOR ASSEMBLY)

MODELS: 1994-95 CHEVROLET AND GMC G VANS

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY REPORT THE SEAT BELT WEBBING MAY BECOME TWISTED OR BINDS WHEN TRYING TO DRAW OR RETRACT THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY.

CAUSE:

THE BELT WEBBING PASSES THROUGH A "D" RING ATTACHED TO THE DOOR PILLAR ANCHOR PLATE. AS THE ANCHOR PLATE PIVOTS, THE SEAT BELT WEBBING MAY OVERLAP ON ITSELF CREATING A BIND OR TWIST CONDITION IN THE INNER DIAMETER OF THE "D" RING ASSEMBLY.

CORRECTION:

INSTALL A NEW SEAT BELT RETRACTOR ASSEMBLY FOLLOWING THE SERVICE MANUAL PROCEDURE IN SECTION 10A2. THE NEW RETRACTOR ASSEMBLY INCORPORATES A NEW "D" RING DESIGN THAT RESISTS BELT WEB TWISTING.
